With the Christmas holidays fast approaching, there is a hustle and bustle that seems to fill the air.  The weather is changing, events are being planned, shopping lists are being checked, and stress levels start to rise.  We start to think about all of the things going on around us and quickly forget to keep our own health and wellbeing in check.  How can you take some time to overcome the holiday stress?  A good way to start is by having a massage.  And, here are some great reasons why!

A.     It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas:  Shopping lists, party planning, working long hours, and packed parking lots are just a few of the many stresses that are imposed upon us at this time of year.  Instead of taking that stress out on the person who just took your parking spot, take an hour for yourself to destress during a massage, and help calm that nervous system.

B.     Grandma got run over by a reindeer:  Cleaning, decorating, baking, putting up Christmas lights, and carrying shopping bags.  All of these added tasks can take a toll on our bodies.  Overworking our muscles and going nonstop can make you feel like you got run over by a reindeer.  A great way to help your body recover faster from this is to run in for a massage and relax.

C.     Oh, Holy night:  With December in our midst, so too are shorter days with less daylight hours.  Many people experience seasonal affective disorder (SAD), and depression and anxiety can be overwhelming at this time of year.  Massage therapy can help to boost serotonin levels in the body, which plays a role in mood and behavior, and in turn can help manage symptoms of SAD.

D.    Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow:  Winter and snow usually go hand in hand.  Snow shoveling can create added tension and stress on muscles.  Having a massage is one of the best ways to melt away that muscle tension.

E.     Baby its Cold outside:  Decreased temperatures can bring on tight muscles and aching joints.  Why not try a massage to warm up and loosen those muscles and joints, and help decrease the aches and pains during the winter months.

Remember, having a massage is not just a luxury but rather is a great and effective treatment for many stresses and strains on our bodies. Your LMT is happy to be able to bring you a sense of relief and relaxation during this busy season! So, what a better time than now to take an hour for yourself to destress and clear your mind by having a massage. Happy Holidays and have yourself a Merry little Christmas!
